🇪🇸 EL ARTE COMO ESPEJO
Los espejos juegan con el tiempo y el espacio. Alejan y a la vez acercan; ayudan a quien se mira en estos a autoconocerse, pero también lo doblegan y lo convierten en un otro. Hacen público lo privado, duplican la realidad y crean una paralela. Asimismo como los espejos, la fotografÃa presenta ambigüedades: copia la realidad y también genera otras nuevas; retrata el mundo objetivamente a la vez que lo distancia subjetivamente; es tanto información digital como objeto fÃsico; puede ser realista o manipulada.
El fotógrafo Joan Fontcuberta afirma que el ser humano mutó hacia la especie Homo/[Mulier] photographicus –o se podrÃa decir posphotographicus–, porque vive rodeado de cámaras que lo controlan y con las que controla también. El celular hoy pareciera ser una extensión del cuerpo y se ha convertido asimismo en un elemento de creación. Este es el medio que Flor Da Valle toma para realizar la serie El arte como espejo, un trabajo de posfotografÃa, con el que guarda el instante de interacción que tuvo con las obras de arte que contempló en museos, galerÃas y espacios de exhibición de distintas partes del mundo desde 2015. Cada obra capturada encierra el registro de una performance -que rinde tributo a la historia del arte desde la contemporaneidad- a través del autorretrato o selfie, que juega con la composición de la imagen fotográfica, los colores, las texturas, los espacios negativos y positivos, y el doble rol de curadora-artista. En la instalación El arte es ese espejo que nos revela nuestra propia cara algunos de esos archivos de información se convierten en telas y fotografÃas bidimensionales en papel: se reauratizan en un nuevo contexto, desafiando la instantaneidad, la simultaneidad y la hiperconexión que caracterizan a la actualidad.
El espejo entonces, invita a una reflexión en su doble significado: reflexión sobre la identidad, sobre la existencia, sobre el cuerpo propio reflejado e incluido en el arte contemporáneo, ahora tal vez desacralizado, en un vÃnculo más cercano.Â

🇬🇧 ART AS A MIRROR
Mirrors play with time and space. They distance and draw closer at the same time; they help the viewer to know themselves, yet they also distort them and turn them into an Other. They make the private public, duplicate reality, and create a parallel one. Much like mirrors, photography presents its own ambiguities: it copies reality while generating new ones; it portrays the world objectively while distancing it subjectively; it exists as both digital information and physical object; it can be realistic or manipulated.
The photographer Joan Fontcuberta argues that the human being has mutated into the species Homo/Mulier photographicus—or, one could say, postphotographicus—because we live surrounded by cameras that monitor us and with which we also monitor others. The cellphone today seems like an extension of the body and has also become a creative tool. This is the medium Flor Da Valle uses to produce the series Art as a Mirror, a post-photographic project in which she preserves the instant of interaction she experienced with artworks she encountered in museums, galleries, and exhibition spaces around the world since 2015.
Each captured work contains the record of a performance—one that pays tribute to art history from a contemporary standpoint—through the self-portrait or selfie, which plays with photographic composition, color, textures, negative and positive space, and the double role of curator-artist.
In the installation Art Is a Mirror That Reveals Our Own Face, some of these information files are transformed into textiles and two-dimensional photographic prints on paper: they are re-auratized within a new context, challenging the immediacy, simultaneity, and hyper-connection that define our present time.
The mirror, then, invites reflection in its double meaning: reflection on identity, on existence, on the body itself—reflected and inserted into contemporary art, perhaps now desacralized, in a more intimate relationship.
