MODOS DE VER. MI COLECCIÓN DE ARTE

🇪🇸Modos de ver. Mi colección de arte opera en la intersección entre fotografía, curaduría y crítica institucional. Trabajo a partir de un proceso de extracción visual: aíslo fragmentos de obras de artistas canónicos que encuentro en museos de todo el mundo y los reconfiguro, a través de la fotografía, como imágenes abstractas.

Estas imágenes son actos de desplazamiento. Al ser removidas de sus marcos, etiquetas y narrativas históricas originales, las obras pierden su autoridad institucional y regresan al campo visual como formas inestables y ambiguas. Lo que queda es un rastro: un residuo de memoria cultural transformado en un nuevo objeto estético y conceptual.

En diálogo con John Berger, que afirmaba que “lo que sabemos o lo que creemos afecta en el modo en que vemos las cosas”, mi trabajo expone que la percepción nunca es neutral. Cada imagen se convierte en un lugar donde se superponen múltiples miradas: la intención del artista original, el encuadre del museo, mi intervención artística y fotográfica, y la proyección del propio espectador.

Al mismo tiempo, dialogo con la idea de Joseph Kosuth de que el arte existe dentro de una red de influencias y no de manera aislada. Al transformar obras preexistentes en nuevas entidades visuales, construyo una “colección” personal y fluida que cuestiona la linealidad de la historia del arte, la autoría fija y la fetichización de la originalidad.

Modos de ver. Mi colección de arte no le pide al espectador que identifique la fuente de cada fragmento. Lo invita a habitar la incertidumbre: a moverse en un espacio donde imágenes, referencias e historias se disuelven en nuevas constelaciones. De esta forma, el proyecto propone un modo de ver alternativo: intuitivo, asociativo y abierto a la posibilidad de múltiples historias del arte en lugar de una sola.

WAYS OF SEEING - MY ART COLLECTION

🇬🇧 Ways of Seeing – My Art Collection operates at the intersection of photography, curating, and institutional critique. I work through a process of visual extraction: I isolate fragments of artworks by canonical artists encountered in museums around the world and reconfigure them, through photography, as abstract images.

These images are acts of displacement. Removed from their original frames, labels, and historical narratives, the artworks lose their institutional authority and re-enter the visual field as unstable and ambiguous forms. What remains is a trace: a residue of cultural memory transformed into a new aesthetic and conceptual object.

In dialogue with John Berger, who stated that “the way we see things is affected by what we know or what we believe,” my work exposes how perception is never neutral. Each image becomes a site where multiple gazes overlap: the original artist’s intention, the museum’s framing, my artistic and photographic intervention, and the viewer’s own projection.

At the same time, I engage with Joseph Kosuth’s idea that art exists within a network of influences rather than in isolation. By transforming pre-existing artworks into new visual entities, I construct a personal and fluid “collection” that challenges linear art history, fixed authorship, and the fetishization of originality.

Ways of Seeing – My Art Collection does not ask the viewer to identify the source of each fragment. It invites them to inhabit uncertainty, to move through a space where images, references, and histories dissolve into new constellations. In doing so, the project proposes an alternative way of seeing: one that is intuitive, associative, and open to the possibility of many art histories rather than a single one.
